False Puppet is a three-piece rock band from Santa Barbara, California.
After forming in 2008, the band quickly graduated from small, local gigs to high-profile opening slots, tours, and sold-out venues outside of just their hometown. Their initial success culminated in them booking a spot on the 2015 Vans Warped Tour to promote their first full-length album, Gibraltar.
Since then, they have continued on as a mainstay of the Santa Barbara music scene, making a name for themselves throughout California and beyond as a must-see musical act with an ability to tackle a wide range of genres (often within a single song).

False Puppet is a three-piece rock band from Santa Barbara, California, made up of Tyler Benko (guitar, lead vocals,) Brennan Benko (drums, percussion), and Channing Peake (bass, backing vocals).
After forming in 2008, the band quickly gained a following through relentless gigging and an ability to attract large crowds no matter where they were playing. Spectators at their early shows often noted all three members’ magnetic stage presence and technical proficiency on their instruments. Soon, they had graduated from small, local gigs to high-profile opening slots (Rebelution, Iration, Dishwalla), tours, and sold-out venues outside of just their hometown.
False Puppet’s initial success culminated in them booking a spot on the 2015 Vans Warped Tour to promote their first full-length album, Gibraltar. The tour exposed them and their music to thousands of new fans around the country, raising their profile even further and landing them gigs with notable acts from the Warped Tour scene including Neck Deep, New Years Day, and Joyce Manor. With the increased exposure came enticing musical opportunities and a desire to pursue new creative directions, and roughly a year after Gibraltar’s release, False Puppet entered an extended hiatus.

During what became a three-year break from the band that launched their musical careers, the boys acquired even more national and international touring experience working alongside bands/artists including Demi Lovato, Fitz and the Tantrums, Hands Like Houses, Walk the Moon, Bad Suns, and Omar Apollo as well as participating in major festivals like Lollapalooza, Louder Than Life, and When We Were Young.
It wasn’t until 2019 when all three members found themselves back in Santa Barbara that they decided to get the band back together and start a new chapter in the False Puppet story. Since then, they have re-emerged as a mainstay of the Santa Barbara
music scene with hundreds of high-energy live performances and an improved ability to tackle a wide range of musical genres (often within a single song). After rediscoveringtheir passion for playing together and rekindling the spark that made them so captivating in the first place, False Puppet was back and better than ever.
Now, with annual slots at prominent local festivals (Fiesta, Earth Day, Avocado Fest, July 4th at West Beach) and packed shows at venues around Southern California and beyond, the boys are continuing to make a name for themselves as a must-see musical act. Whether you like rock, metal, pop , hip hop, or country there’s something for everyone at a False Puppet show.
